Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about how YakDil works. For safety guidance, see the Safety Center.
What is YakDil?
YakDil (یکدل, meaning "one heart") is a halal matrimony platform for the global Muslim community. It exists for finding a spouse, not for dating.
How is YakDil halal?
YakDil exists for marriage only, and members are asked their intention at sign-up. There is no endless feed: interests are capped daily and you can hold only a few conversations at once, so you choose carefully. Family involvement is supported through guardian (wali) mode, a woman's photos stay blurred until she decides otherwise, and conduct rules are enforced by human moderators.
Is YakDil free?
Yes. Creating a profile, matching, chatting, verification, reporting, blocking and every control in your Privacy Center — including incognito — are free, with no per-message charges and no credits. Free does have deliberate limits, and we would rather you knew them before you join than after: up to 5 active connections at a time, 10 interests a day, and 1 compliment a day. The optional YakDil Plus subscription lifts those (10 connections, unlimited interests, 5 compliments) and adds seeing who liked and viewed you, advanced filters, and in-app voice and video calling. Calling is the only paid feature with any bearing on safety, because it costs us money per minute to run; nothing you need in order to protect yourself is behind a paywall.
How does verification work?
Members verify with a live selfie, which is reviewed before a verified badge appears on the profile. Email or phone is also confirmed with a one-time code at sign-up. Verification keeps fake profiles out, and unverified accounts have limited reach.
Who can see my photos?
Every photo is served from private storage with an access check on every single view — never a public link — location data is stripped from the file automatically, and your profile never appears in Google or any search engine. Blurring is a control we offer on women's profiles: a woman's photos start blurred to everyone, and she can choose to keep them blurred, to unblur for members she matches with, or to hide them entirely. Men's photos are not blurred; they are shown to signed-in members, and a man can hide his photos entirely if he prefers.
What is the No-Ghosting Covenant?
When a member decides a conversation is not the right path, YakDil will not let them close it in silence: ending a match requires choosing one of three short, kind farewells, which arrives as their final message. It is one tap for them and an answer for you, and the ended conversation stays in your "Recently ended" list for 30 days so the last word said is still there. Two honest limits. Blocking is different and stays instant and silent — nobody who feels unsafe is made to be polite first. And we cannot make anyone reply to a message: if a conversation simply goes quiet, we close it after 30 days of silence and give you both your connection slot back.
What is guardian (wali) mode?
A member can invite a trusted family member, such as a father, brother or mother, to be part of her search at whatever level of access she chooses. It brings the traditional, family-led way of finding a spouse into the app, always by her choice.
What languages does YakDil support?
YakDil is in English today, with right-to-left languages such as Urdu, Farsi, Pashto and Dari rolling out — full right-to-left layouts and native numerals throughout — and more languages on the way. It is built for the global Muslim community, at home and across the diaspora.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 18 years old and legally free to marry. Every member accepts this at sign-up, and accounts that misstate age are removed.
How do I report someone or get help?
Every profile and chat has Report and Block actions. Blocking is immediate and the other person is not notified. Reports go to a human moderation team that can warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts. See the Safety Center for practical guidance.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes, at any time, from Settings. Deletion permanently removes your profile, photos, and messages. You can also export your data first. Only records we are legally required to keep (for example, evidence tied to a safety report) are retained.
