Family involvement
Guardian (wali) mode
Marriage was never between two people alone
In our tradition, a marriage joins two families, and the wali stands beside the bride as a sign of care, not control. Guardian mode was built to carry that into the app instead of asking anyone to leave it behind. It is one of the reasons people search here rather than on a dating app.
What guardian mode is
A member invites a trusted family member into her search. The guardian joins only after accepting the invitation, and everything they can do is chosen by her in advance and written plainly in the invitation itself, so no one is surprised by what a wali can or cannot see.
Three roles, always her choice
These are three different jobs, not steps on a ladder. A chaperone reads, an approver decides, and she decides which one her guardian holds.
See matches only
The wali can see her active matches, the name, age, city, verified status and what they matched on. Private conversations stay private.
Chaperone
The wali can see her matches and read the conversations in them, as a chaperone. Both people in the chat are told a wali can see it, so it is never hidden from anyone.
Approve matches
The wali is asked to approve or decline a new match before the conversation opens. At this level the wali does not read the private chats.
She stays in control
She sends the invitation, she sets the role, and she can change the level or end guardian mode at any time. Her photos and privacy begin at the strongest setting either way, and nothing about guardian mode weakens them. For men, the same invitation exists; the search is meant to be a family matter for everyone who wants it to be.
Bring your family into the search
Free on Google Play. Invite your wali when you are ready, insha’Allah.
Questions about wali mode
What is guardian (wali) mode?
Guardian mode lets a member invite a trusted family member, such as a father, brother or mother, into her search. She chooses the level of access, and she can change or end it at any time. It brings the family led way of finding a spouse into the app, always by her choice.
Who can be a wali on YakDil?
Anyone she trusts to stand beside her, most often a father, brother, uncle or mother. She sends one invitation, and the guardian takes part only after accepting it.
Does my wali read my private messages?
Only if she chooses the chaperone role. There are three separate roles: see matches only, chaperone who can also read conversations (both people are told when a wali can see the chat), and approve matches before a conversation opens. She picks one, and it is never assumed.
Is YakDil a Muslim marriage app with wali support?
Yes. Guardian (wali) mode is built in, not an afterthought, and it is free for every member.
When two families are ready to meet, the Khastgari Guide walks you through it. For safety and privacy, see the Safety Center and the FAQ.
